From the preface:
The Afrikan by his/her original nature, and as infused in her/him by Mãwù - Lisa, has always desired to know. He/she has always known that Mãwù descends when Man ascends. In the Kôngo system our Ancestors often referred to real, Afrikan human beings as kintu (or kintu) which directly translates as "a thing; something; that". This was done until they showed their ability to accept the higher teachings and activate these teachings in their lives and in their communities.
Therefore, according to the very nature of Afrikan culture, one has to advance from this kintu-ness into what the Ba Kôngo refer to as becoming Muntu. Normally this word is simply translated as “human being”, but that is its most mundane aspect. In truth, it is the Ba Kôngo way of saying that one has come into one’s own divinity. The Yoruba refer to this advancement as becoming "eniyan gidi- true and authentic human being".
